It’s no April Fool’s joke…today is Cisco’s birthday. He came barking into the world in 1996, and sadly left us in 2008. He woulda been 14 this year. But his memory lives on with everyone at West Coast Choppers that had the pleasure of playing tug of war with him, or scratchin’ him on the butt. He was always happy to see you and greeted guests with that wagging tail of his.
And who knew that this friendly old shop dog would be the inspiration for our own Cisco Burger? Yep! Right next door to the shop is our eco-friendly burger joint that has an old school vibe and the tastiest burgers in town. But Cisco did get to benefit from having it next door to the shop, all the WCCers would bring him back bacon strips for a treat.
So his spirit lives on at Cisco Burger. Check out our menu, we bet there’s something on it that will appeal. If you’re ever in the area, swing by and have a Cisco Combo. in the LBC, the “c” is for culture
Some of us on the WCC crew are lucky enough to get weekend passes, and venture outside the razor wire bejewelled walls, and they go do all sorts of interesting things. Like visit Cisco Burger, go to the bookstore and read Garage Magazine for free, prank call Austin Speed Shop…things like that. Sometimes we even dip our foot into the deep end of the subculture pool and go to gallery openings. This one was last weekend at Shelter, an old school surf shop on 4th Street in Long Beach. It had a nice eclectic collection of surf and fringe hotrod art. And a nice ecelctic collection of people looking a it. Our boy David Lozeau had a few cool pieces in it. We profiled David in our Garage Magazine issue #19 in case you missed it. Check out the full article, and also check out his site for his recent work. The show is up through the middle of April.
