Everybody wants a custom made from West Coast Choppers…even the city of Long Beach. They called us up to make some architectural screens with iconic scenes of Long Beach to spruce up the planters on Pine Avenue in downtown…and keep the “seedy element types” from hanging about. Perfect! We know a lot about the seedy types…we’ve got more than our share here.
So we came up with a couple sets of drawings for the city to choose from, and then got cutting and welding and did the job from start to finish in a couple weeks. The blue paint is their idea. It matches everything else they have going on. We wanted to give it a nice metal flake, pinstripes, maybe some flames. But no go. They turned out pretty cool, despite the lack of pin striping, and the city dug ‘em.
We were happy to help out, and welcome any chance we get to make the city look good. So people get the idea that Long Beach is more than an industrial wasteland along the 710. Rumor is we might be making some more in the future.
