It was a big day for West Coast Choppers, well, in fact for the whole LBC. The city of Long Beach renamed the street in front of the shop West Coast Choppers Place. Traffic started to slow down at 10:30 as lanes of Anaheim Street were blocked off for the big event. Right at 11am, the fancy balloon-bedazzled ceremony kicked off with city councilman Robert Garcia officiating. There was a crowd filled with invited guests, WCC peeps, city sign unveiler specialists, LA news crews, photogs, and the usual random interlopers that swelled out into the street to watch the proceedings. Jesse was graciously thanked for all of West Coast Choppers charitable contributions to the community, and for being an international brand that makes Long Beach proud.
After a brief speech where Jesse thanked the city for putting up with all of the shenanigans, traffic infractions, burn outs, and slightly questionable use of fireworks that have occurred at 718 West Anaheim over the past 14 years, he was given the honors of pulling the rip cord and unveiling the shiny blue West Coast Choppers Place sign. The crowd cheered, angels sang, the Virgin Mary appeared briefly in the clouds, all was right with the world, and then Jesse yelled at all of us to stop slacking and get back to work. Just another day at West Coast Choppers.
Our shop dog Cinnabun escaped from West Coast Choppers on Monday, January 25th in the afternoon. WCC is located right off the 710 Freeway at Anaheim Street in Long Beach. We’ve had a few leads, but all dead ends so far, but the search is still definitely on. She’s a great little dog, and we want to find her as soon as possible. If you follow our blog, you’ll remember the post we made when she first came to West Coast:http://westcoastchoppers.com/sit-stay-no-don’t-do-that-there-welcome-cinnabon/
Please keep your eyes out for our little gal, she’s a light brown and white pit bull, 9 months old, cropped ears, full tail, hazel eyes. Last seen wearing a large pink collar near West Coast Choppers and Cisco Burger on Anaheim St./710 Freeway in Long Beach.
If you haven’t heard about Austin Speed Shop already, check this out.
A couple of months ago a few film students from the University of Texas asked if they could come by Austin Speed Shop for the afternoon to shoot some video, take some pictures, and ask some questions. They put this video together for a film class project.
We get a lot of mail here at West Coast Choppers. A lot of mail. Probably not quite the same mailbag as say those crazy kids from American Idol get we’d venture to bet. We get the usual stalkers and haters and requests for Jesse to show up at some kid’s graduation form 3rd grade, but we also get art…from guys who have nothin’ but time on their hands, and maybe a pencil. They are incredible little masterpieces in their own right, usually on the outside of the envelope. We hang onto them…who knows, someday one of these dudes might get famous, and we can cash in our little prison letter drawing and retire to Austin for good.
So it got us thinkin’…let’s see what talent is out there. We want to see what you can do. Send us something good and we’ll put the top 10 on our site. If you make it into our little WCC-curated art show, we’ll send you a free gift (and by gift we mean worthless trinkety crap). But a gift nonetheless.
So either do your rendition of Pirate Pete with Turtle Head, or send us your own darn creation. Either way we’ll wait breathlessly at the mailbox for your submissions!

This bike demonstrates one of our favorite bike building mottos here at West Coast Choppers….When in doubt, chrome it out! Because hey, can you ever really have too much chrome? This bike’s got bling. You couldn’t get another ounce of chrome on this bike if you tried. Well, there are the tires….hmmmm.
And what’s a great bike if you don’t have some hot talent to shoot it? We’re lucky enough to have Tim Sutton willing to come over to the shop and take our abuse on a regular basis. He’s an automotive and lifestyle shooter who kicks ass on every assignment we give him, and he’s an LBC boy, so that’s just bonus! When we asked him for a few words about himself, without missing a beat he rattled off his Penthouse profile: “Favorite color is chrome, I’m a Virgo, I’m into water sports and long walks in junk yards. My shoe size 12 if you know what I mean. And I think I’ll have an ice cream party to celebrate this posting.” If you want to see more of Tim’s work, and how could you not after reading that, check him out at http://www.hotrodsuttonphoto.com.
Here’s the 411 on the bike that’s rolling out of the shop on it’s way to Africa. Yeah, Africa. Bet that will turn a few heads over there.
